BBQ Turkey Tenderloin

Right now as I’m writing this blog post, it is mid April.  By now we are enjoying the start of spring, family get togethers and my favorite warm weather event — the BBQ COOKOUTS!  Alas, we don’t have that luxury right now so what do we do?  I’ve been craving a good WW low point grilled protein!

If you are on a low carb or WW (Weight Watchers) lifestyle, you love protein!  You can choose one that is low in fat and high on protein and build out any flavor profile you love.

What flavor profile do I use with …. Turkey? 

Think of Turkey Breast or Turkey Tenderloin as a blank pallet .  It tends to take on the spices you create your dish with.  It doesn’t really have an overly distinct flavor like say fish or ground beef or even a Steak.  It is pretty indistinct and easy to work with … as long as you become familiar with how to cook it so it doesnt dry out!  That is the key!

Don’t fear the Pressure Cooker! 

One of the best methods I’ve found is to use a Pressure Cooker.  I’ll link one here that I really like and find to be quite simple to use. 

Now listen, DO NOT be afraid of the pressure cooker.  I was too!  I understand how you feel!  This is not the pressure cooker we used to see our grandmas use with the wheel of steam on top! No! 

The Pressure Cooker is a must have in my WW kitchen and I do hope you will give it a try!  Mine will not even turn on without it being properly sealed! 

How avoid Dry Turkey … foolproof! 

Ok, now that we have that out of the way, the steam from within the pressurized cooking will give you a tender, juicy turkey breast every single time!   This recipe I created will hit the BBQ note in flavor but you will not have any of that dryness you can sometimes get on a hot outdoor grill! A 20 minute cook in the pressure cooker and a slow release will be your easy go to for a BBQ turkey breast!

Ingredients

  • 2 Jennie O plain Turkey Tenderloin 2 come in one pack
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp BBQ sauce
  • 1 tsp salt and pepper

Instructions

  • Throw all ingredients in your pressure cooker (I linked one in the blog post) and set to Poultry. Slow release and serve.
